On Thursday, His Excellency President Adama Barrow presided over the swearing-in ceremony of the newly appointed Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC), Mr. Joseph Colley and Mr. Cherno Jallow, respectively. The event took place at the State House.
Following the administration of oaths, President Barrow congratulated the appointees and reminded them of the significant responsibilities entrusted to them. He urged them to uphold best practices, address and prevent lapses, and work to improve operational efficiency in order to better serve the nation.
The President also highlighted the urgent need for comprehensive electoral reforms to strengthen the country’s electoral systems and safeguard democratic governance.
In his remarks, President Barrow extended his sincere appreciation to the outgoing IEC Chairman, Alieu Momarr Njie, for his dedicated service and valuable contributions, wishing him continued success in his future endeavors.
