Commissioner, Independent Electoral Commission (IEC), The Gambia

Mrs. Haddy Sedat Jobe George is a Commissioner at the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) of The Gambia and one of five members entrusted with the leadership and oversight of the country’s electoral process.

A seasoned public administrator with a strong background in Human Resources and Financial Management, Mrs. Jobe George brings a wealth of institutional experience, to the Commission. Her career in the private sector has been defined by a steadfast commitment to transparency, impartiality, and procedural integrity—principles that continue to guide her work at the IEC.

Mrs. Jobe George plays a strategic role in shaping electoral policy, strengthening operational systems, and ensuring adherence to democratic standards. She is known for her clarity of purpose, collaborative leadership style, and her ability to foster trust among diverse stakeholders.

As part of the Commission’s core leadership, she works alongside her colleagues to ensure that elections in The Gambia are transparent, credible, and inclusive. She currently serves as Commissioner and Returning Officer for Kerewan Administrative Area. Furthermore, she has oversight over the newly established Gender & PWD unit of the IEC.
