Achievements

After the dissolution of the PIEC (formed in 1995), the Independent Electoral Commission has successfully conducted series of electoral activities.These include:

1. A general registration of voters in 2001 and 2011. A supplementary Registration of  voters and replacement of voting cards in 2004, 2006 and 2016. A deletion exercise in 2006.
2. Presidential Elections in 2001, 2006 and 2011.
3. National Assembly Election in 2002, 2007 and 2012
4. Local Government Elections in 2002,  2008 and 2013

The Commission has also conducted series of By-Elections in different constituencies across the country. All elections have been certified as free, fair and transparent by all stakeholders including political parties, local and international observers.
