Voter Registration in The Gambia

Voter registration is a vital step in ensuring that every eligible Gambian citizen can exercise their democratic right to vote. The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) conducts nationwide registration exercises to compile an accurate and up-to-date register of voters ahead of each election.

To register, you must:

• Be a Gambian citizen

• Be 18 years or older

• Possess a valid Gambian ID or passport

• Be of sound mind and not disqualified by any law

Registration is done in person at designated registration centers across the country. Once registered, voters will receive a Voter’s Card, which must be presented on election day.
